Just as the title says, does anyone know any free alternatives for Substance Painter?
That app at $60 per month is far too expensive. This is more so when it’s a separate expense from Adobe Cloud and its other products. Photoshop can only do so much.
Materialize does pretty well, but doesn’t translate well in Unreal Engine 5 sometimes. I have tried tutorials for height maps, but none of them work, leaving me with very pixelated texture maps.
So far I have found Quixel Mixer, but that has been discontinued in 2022. Though the app is still available.
Then there is ArmorPaint. This looks the closest to Substance Painter from the pictures, but I don’t want to download and install unknown apps and get malware, or my computer hacked.
What does everyone else think?
