Free For All Example Project (Trial version Only!)

I thought I’d go ahead and start a thread for example projects as such a thread may be of great help to a good many people trying to get into the whole photogrammetry thing.

I’ll start with something I quickly threw together today: A reconstruction of a small Squirrel figurine (height: about 15cm).

To get quick, yet very decent results, I have changed some parameters for the reconstruction process.
You can see the changes in the attached rc_settings.jpg.

The screenshot shows the results for the preview quality reconstruction - more than good enough for 3d-printing or further use in other applications.

The second attached image - rc_snapshot.jpg - shows a closeup of the textured mesh.

I used the quality setting for texturing. A value of 0.0125 yields the result from the snapshot.
If texture quality is not that important, you can set quality to 0.025 instead.

Those of you who wish to take a look at the project files, may download them here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25588164/Squirrel.rar Size: 318 MB

This includes all project files and all photos used for the reconstruction.
Note that you can only open the project with the trial version of the software!

Hardware used to take the photos:

  • Canon EOS 1100D Entry Level DSLR with the bundled EF-S 18-55mm lens
  • Velbon Sherpa 250R Tripod (old but good)
  • Cheap but bright Light Cube with white background
  • Lazy Susan turntable
