Free Claude Code skill: shipping UE5 mobile games to Google Play + App Store from one PC and one Mac (37 lessons learned)

What it is: a free, open-source (MIT) Claude Code skill: a playbook an AI agent follows to ship one Unreal Engine 5 project to Google Play and the App Store, with a Windows PC building Android and a Mac building iOS. It comes from my own fieldwork on real releases, and it’s mostly the traps that cost real time.

What’s inside

  • A release-day run-sheet: 23 steps across Android and iOS. Each one says who does it (Windows agent, Mac agent or you), what evidence proves it’s done, and which steps stay human-only.
  • Exact commands for the Android build, package verification and adb install over Wi-Fi.
  • Android stability notes: Vulkan and MinSDK choices, PSO precompile vs ad-SDK ANRs, per-chip cvars, foldables.
  • Store features in a Blueprint project: a one-time Play Billing purchase, In-App Updates and platform guards.
  • The Windows-to-Mac hand-off and the merge-back of the iOS branch into one source of truth.
  • 37 mistakes, each with its fix.

A few of those traps

  • A C++ project needs -build in BuildCookRun. Without it, RunUAT happily reuses an old .so from a Blueprint-only build.
  • The iOS build-number counter is keyed to the project folder name. A fresh clone in a new folder restarts it, and App Store Connect rejects the upload as “not higher”.
  • Never build iOS from an ExFAT external drive. Xcode code signing breaks on the AppleDouble files.
  • git bundle doesn’t carry LFS objects. Moving a branch between machines needs .git/lfs/objects too; check sha256 = oid.
  • An incremental OBB after a clock rollback ships stale content.

How it works: nothing runs on its own. The agent reads the playbook, runs the pre-flight checklist, and waits until you say “build”. Tested on UE 5.8; items marked “verify” depend on your engine version.

It’s v0.1, written from one two-platform release. Questions and corrections from people who ship more often are very welcome. Hope it saves someone a weekend. Peace :victory_hand:
