Frame drop when switching to DX11 mode from DX9

I know that it is somewhat expected to see some performance degradation when running DX11 instead of DX9. I’m seeing about a 20fps drop.

To my knowledge I’m not using any DX11 features, so I wouldn’t expect there to be such a big drop.

So my question is: Is there something that is enabled by default that I can turn off (or tweak) to reduce the expense of running DX11? Because at the moment, i’m sticking with DX9 (due to performance), but I’d love to start using some DX11 features.

I recall reading there are issues with using DX11 for UDK, sorry did a quick search and couldn’t find it but I’d advise doing a thorough search before continuing. Maybe the issue is with frontend builds … dunno?

Ive noticed a similar frame drop of 10-15fps in a deffault scene too.Suspect that it might be related to the sky light.Than again,my gpu is old.
