Forums: Purchase @Mention addon for vBulletin

Could Epic please get this addon:[DBTech] Advanced User Tagging](New Posting Features - [DBTech] Advanced User Tagging v3 (vB4) - vBulletin.org Forum) which will enable twitter style @mentions?

Given that Vbulletin is used for all of Epic’s forums: UE, UT, Paragon, Spyjinx etc… it would be worth it.

Also, as a lot of the newer people joining will be more familiar with @mentions this request is bound to come up.

Thanks.

Copy and paste from their site:

Advanced @User Tagging: What is it?

DragonByte Technologies is proud to present [DBTech] Advanced @User Tagging.

The @user Tagging mod is designed to increase activity on your forum by allowing members to mention each other in posts when talking about them.
This is done in a very easy way, very similar to how Twitter mentions people. We use @ ; as the tags, so for instance you could say:

This new mod from @Dragonbyte Tech; is pretty cool.

The “@DragonByte Tech;” Will become a link to the DragonByte Tech users profile, it will also inform DragonByte Tech they had been mentioned, and link to the relevant thread/post via a new area in the profile section, as well as a new tab in the shoutbox.

It also allows members to “tag” the thread for specific other members by inputting their usernames in the tag box above the posts of the thread.

This is a great way to increase your forum activity with no extra admin input required – people will start to mention posts/threads to their friends, which will increase the amount of posting. This is especially useful of forums which have an international contingent (so threads posted in during the night for some of your members don’t go overlooked) or forums which have a lot of posts/threads each day – again to make sure that a post a person might want to read doesn’t get lost in the crowd.

Thanks Chance Ivey, Alexander Paschall and Epic’s Online Team for rolling this out!

This should work also: Chance Ivey and Alexander Paschall

Testing 1,2,3 Chance Ivey; and Alexander Paschall;

Does this work.

EDIT: Yes it does!

If a user has a space in their name you write out their username with the space and then add a semicolon “;” (without the quotes “”) at the end.

eg:

 Tim Sweeney;

will give Tim Sweeney;

Also, if you use the Source Mode Editor, you can use the

person's name/ MENTION]

with the space between / and MENTION…seems that I found a bug…as the @Mentions are still resolved within code quoting

@Alexander_Paschall, @Chance_Ivey

Yay it works! :slight_smile:

@ryanjon2040 It’s pretty neat :smiley:

@Chance_Ivey This is an awesome addition Chance. Now i don’t have to quote messages! :smiley:

Thank you for adding this:)

Oh and forgot to mention. Thank you for the email notification too! Its pretty neat :slight_smile:

@richardboegli can’t get it work so far :frowning:

Any way to turn off the mentioned and tagged counts on the side of every post?

:sadpanda: about the ever increasing height of one-line posts :frowning:

It did work, I got notified by your @Mention.

What can’t you get to work Andrew Bedier; ?

Yes, this does suck. I’m not sure actually.

But, when I just want to browse in a very clean manner, I use the archive option.

Grab the THREADID and put it into this link

https://forums.unrealengine.com/archive/index.php/t-THREADID

eg for this thread:

https://forums.unrealengine.com/archive/index.php/t-101199

https://forums.unrealengine.com/archive/index.php/t-101199

@richardboegli it’s alive it’s alive :smiley:

it worked :3

Good to see Andrew Bedier;!

Does this still work? In a post-preview the username code shows up as code, not as a mention. Just curious. :slight_smile:

You don’t need to use code, you just put @ before the user name and it’ll automatically do it.
