Is it just me or is the activity in this forum decreasing quite noticably?
Is that because people use other measn (facebook / steam) more now or because more are buying premium support?
Since I am not really willing to browse several places, which one is the most active one for serious business?

We also have a web contact form and direct e-mails
People choose what suits them best for each particuar case.
I get that!
I’m not trying to complain or anything!
I’m asking because the point of a forum is to try and figure out answers for a specific question on one’s own.
Believe it or not, I am trying to do that all the time.
So I don’t want to pester you until I see no other way.
At least half of my problems were solved that way - more time for you to answer other posts!
So I do think there is a benefit for focussing on the most active place - hence my question.
So what do you think which one?
Facebook (I hope no account is needed), Steam or any other place I haven’t heard of yet?
Looked through Steam once a while ago but had the impression the questions are more basic.
I still hope it’s this one…

Forums are best for exchanging ideas publicly with more users, be it this forum or our Facebook group.
Ok, let me phrase it more precisely:
I do not have a facebook account and am not too keen on creating one.
However, if you told me that all the serious action is going on over there, I might consider it.
If it is about equal or more basic, I will not.
I would really value your input on this!
BTW, here is the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/CapturingRealityArena/

I am afraid you will need to check/experience/decide for yourself whether it is worth being an active member of our Facebook group.
It is a bit different kind of forum than this one. At this moment there are 1,269 members.
Thanks lubenko.
Anybody else here who is also in the facebook group, reads this thread and wants to share their opinion?
This forum have more technical answers. And Capturing Reality team more easy track questions on forum.
But on Facebook not only Capturing Reality group. But another one greatest 3D scan group with about 15k users with many of this industry leaders.
Also much easy contact in PM on Facebook
Thanks Vladlen, that helps!
I’m not in any of the facebook groups either.
cheers chris!
Oh no not another - many of my favourite forums have recently died under me, or in decline.
How can such searchable treasure troves of wisdom be replaced by ephemeral social media?
Youtubes? maybe but they are not conversations generating constructive thoughts, and only searchable by title, not (spoken) words or (visual) content.
Much of the best wisdom is in words typed well off-topic in unexpected forum posts.
This forum seems one of the very best, to me - lively/fast, good understandable writing, helpful members.
Is writing an art that will die with GenX?
I think its a long way from dying!
But it did seem more lively a while ago, which can be due to several reasons:
- I am wrong.
- The bugs are being expunged and so people have less to report.
- Help is progressing so there are fewer questions.
- Other.
I am missing a bit more general exchange though, which could be helped by another section, as requested.
But maybe the operators want to have the focus on the software.
For general/technology/industry/people/studios talk i highly recommend thouse FaceBook groups.
And them only a reason i remain on FB for connection with people with similar interests, or different discussions, not only about software, but also gardware, workflow, ideas…
