Who is this “everyone” you speak of? Make them send you a picture of their screen with today’s newspaper in the foreground. 
Looking at the Winterfest page on a wiki - in 2022 it started on Dec 13, and in 2023 it started on Dec 14. Some news sites are reporting that it might start on Dec 17 this year.
