Fortnite OG for Old Computers

Hi everybody

I started to play Fortnite couple years ago. At this moment, OG season in Fortnite (curent map) is very familiar to me  :innocent: At my begining, my computer was OK for the game: ZOTAC Magnus EN-1060 with GeForce GTX1060. With every upgrade it is more hard to play. I have to adjust and lower graphic setting (27’’ LCD = but have to play on 720p), the movemenet stops occasionally and gaming experience is worst with every update. Couple more updates and my Fortnite screen will look like Minecraft  :scream:

Is there any chance to adjust my settings to play normal? On which details I should pay attention? Are there any ports specific for Fortnite game? Sometimes I received sign for low connection, but I play via a network cable

And another question: due to increasingly poor graphics, I don’t browsing through different versions of the game. I stick to the OG. Are there any options for gamers with low graphics in their computer? Which means => for less powerful graphics cards…

And yes, thank you, I should buy a new computer, but there are diferent priorities => kids received more advanced stuffs (they don’t have problems with game).

Thanks for any suggestion. May the Force be with U

Hi Kawa, Welcome to the Forums.

Internet connection lag is separate from graphics ā€œlagā€ (framerate drops), I don’t think there is any way to open ports and improve that.

In Fortnite graphics settings, first turn ā€˜Show FPS’ on. I’d consider ~30fps playable and ~60fps to be the target. (assuming your monitor refreshes at 60fps)

Change ā€˜Rendering Mode’ in graphics settings to ā€œPerformanceā€

What sort of FPS does that get you?

For resolution - I’d enable ā€˜Dynamic 3D resolution’ - that way you can run the game at your monitors native resolution, and it will adjust the render resolution in real-time to help FPS.

Hi and thanks for your help.

I did as sugested and picture is much better, but movement not.
If I set FPS to 30, I receive from 18 to 30 FPS. In game my movement is slow…like my SantaGrandpa (my skin) would be in reality :winking_face_with_tongue: I even got one red sign for no-internet..

If i set it to 60 - movement is blocked every 10 secunds (max).

Glad to hear it’s better.

If you press CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE you will bring up the Windows task manager.

You can go to the ā€˜Performance’ tab and see you system resource utilization.

I’d expect to see your GPU maxed out while in Fortnite. (GPU will drop down when you minimize Fortnite though, but you should still be able to see the history)

Also take a look at current Memory (RAM). If that is full or close to full (+85%) that might be impacting performance.

It looks like the ZOTAC Magnus is a mini-PC, so the only option for upgrading the PC itself might be with more RAM.

Well, CPU is 100%, memory is near 45% (not higher)

I will have to investigate about Ethernet…
