Big disappointment, been waiting since this was posted for submission in the MP forum… seems a bit odd to have it here with all the exposure then decline to sell it through the MP. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The Conifer forest pack may actually come out on August 3rd, waiting for Epic to confirm.
But any other packs will only be available through our site.

I think you might be right, although I’m not sure why it would be rejected. These packs would be one of the best on the marketplace.
I doubt it would have been rejected, these look really good. I can understand wanting to sell it elsewhere in order to provide better support. This is something that many developers have been complaining about in the private forums.
I really think you should reconsider the unreal marketplace - I check it every week or so for new releases and just buy loads of stuff because its addictive - I will buy this regardless as it looks to be amazing trees, but I found it completely by accident. i am sure there are a lot of people who just check the marketplace through the epic launcher and never come to these forums - therefore you must be missing out on a large chunk of revenue. I also normally would never buy directly from a website as I like all my marketplace purchases in my epic library and can easily add to project and all that - I will make an exception with this if that is the only way, but surely you would make a ton more money if it was on MP? How are other people meant to find you? I saw this pack randomly on facebook and when i searched today on google “ue4 forest pack” you were on page 2 - who looks at page 2? Anyway, just a thought…
Also, before i buy, can i check that all the packs now come with static meshes for the trees etc and not just from blueprints (and the whole issue about not being able to foliage pain etc) - I think from this forum they now come as static meshes, but just wanted to check before buying (as meshes are a must)
Bought it and they are static meshes… really good quality pack and I get pretty good frame rates with a 970…
@whammes, I am still running into the same problems with the packs. The reflections are all messed up.
Any updates on the reflections? I’m still having problems. Maybe it is because I am using a mac?

Maybe, it’s strange almost looks like your missing the reflection spheres and it only reflects the default skylight cubemap.

Ah I wish this update would come out sooner. I spent the yesterday stripping down lots of instructions from the materials. Right now they run well on my end.
I think it’d be best if you could add more LODs in between. After you added static mesh trees as an update (Thanks!), each tree has a LOD0 about 35,000 Tris, LOD1 about 15,000 Tris, and LOD2 which is an X tree. In order to maintain smooth performance I have made the LOD2 appear very early (distance set to 0.99) otherwise 3 trees easily add up to +100,000 Tris. But even then having all the surrounding trees at ~15,000 Tris is still heavy so I have made LOD3 to also appear at a medium distance. Now the pop between this LOD2 and LOD3 are very obvious.
Btw, any ETA on your Redwood pack?
Since the trees now use displacement for close range we will drop the triangle count on the LOD0 models. Still balancing performance with the these new changes, all these changes come from the work in progress of the redwood forest pack.
Though we still need to make a field trip to the US to capture the really big trees, but with all the fires in CA at the moment we need to wait.

Will you be able to do a version of the trees where the bottom (ground part) of the trees are cut out? they always stick out on the slopes and takes a lot of manual work to hide them…

we have a new Staticmesh just for that, actually in the new update we removed to blueprint trees, as they aren’t really useful anymore.
There are now two separate tree versions, one for placing them manually (hero), that’s the SM version you already know from the old version.
And a new painter tree version with no base for faster painting. Obviously the painter versions will lag some of the nice far reaching roots.

Could you also add collisions for the ground parts of the tree? In the previous version, when I added a third person character, it would go through the ground part of the trees :(.
I agree, it might appear as a seller that 30% cut is quite some chunk, but if you think it from a buyer point its totally worth it. The fact that you can easily plug in projects from library tab, and acess all in organized place having sorted what you bought is what makes Marketplace far better than using external websites.
