[For Hire/In-kind] Experienced copy-editor and proofreader

Who I am
I’m an experienced copy-editor, proofreader, writer and independent game developer keen to assist you to refine every piece of text for your games, from scripts to lore to promotional material and community engagement.

Why work with an editor?
It’s all-too-easy for a typo to break immersion or make your project look unprofessional, or for a clunky phrase to leave a player confused rather than engaged. Clear, elegant writing keeps the experience flowing smoothly. Copy-editing is:

  • Fast —I can review 50,000 words per week
  • Parallel —I can work without slowing down other departments
  • Collaborative —it can inspire new ideas and better ways of communicating them

What I can do
For every piece of text, in-game and out, I will:

  • Fix errors in spelling and grammar
  • Ensure consistency of tone and style (and of in-universe terms)
  • Suggest alternative phrasing or rewrites, if requested

All while respecting and preserving your unique writing style and artistic vision and maintaining strict confidentiality.

I have also worked extensively with non-native English speakers to ensure correct and idiomatic English.

What I charge
No job is too big or too small ; from a minimalist UX to tome after tome of in-game lore and hours of scripted dialogue.

My fees are negotiable. If I like your project, I might work for nothing (just credit and word-of-mouth), or we could discuss an exchange of labour—I’m working on a project of my own that you could contribute to.

How long it takes
If booked in advance, I can typically return up to 50,000 words within five business days. Faster response with less notice is possible for smaller jobs. Remember, editing can run parallel with other parts of your project.

How to contact me
Send me an email at impossible[dot]pinwheel[at]gmail[dot]com with an outline of your project’s needs.
