Footsteps Sounds With Blueprints Review + Issue Fix | Unreal Marketplace

Player Start Issue Fix

I found the issue myself seeing as how the original creator of this blueprint did a amateurish mistake that shouldn’t have been overlooked in the first place. You need to place a “Player Start” on your level and then open the “Third Person Character” blueprint and then turn on the “Footsteps Play” under the “ThirdPersonCharacterself” component. Now your character can spawn in and generate the sounds when you spawn in and not having to possess the character in the level beforehand. It becomes an issue when this should have been added in the first place.

He left the “Footsteps Play” off by mistake on the marketplace and also didn’t bother to use the “Player Start” which is standard in most blueprint tutorials.

And also he misspelled the physics “Conrete_Physic_Mat” which should have been “Concrete_Physic_Mat”. If you type “concrete” in the physics surface list it isn’t your fault.

He also didn’t bother to link his video tutorial at the Unreal Marketplace description and even marked the video as “unlisted” which made it nearly impossible to find due to the circumstances. He also named the video “FootstepsSound Video Manual” instead of “Footsteps Sound Video Tutorial” and categorized his video under Music instead of gaming. He also didn’t bother to put a single YouTube video tag on his videos making even more difficult to search on google or YouTube in general.

I made a copy of the video just in case if his video ever ends up deleted.

It’s almost as if he didn’t want anyone to use his blueprint or even learn how to use it. I took the time to post this small issue fix so he can fix it himself and update it in the marketplace so nobody else would have to go through the amount of trouble I had gone through. I already have spent like 12 hours having to learn how to use the Blueprints on this and I assumed fully well if he knew what he was doing but boy was I wrong.

He had also deleted my previous comments about this issue and instead of fixing it he deleted it instead. And this is why I had to take the time of writing and making this review so let others be aware. If you think I am being harsh then you are delusional. When you sell anything you get the backlash that you deserve. People rely on a fully working and tested product and they invest their own money for such returns. If you cannot understand these concepts then don’t sell your products at all.

I hope this was useful to those that needed it the most and I hope the developer of this blueprint will fix these issue otherwise he only has himself to blame. It has been well over 3 months since my purchase and he still haven’t taken the time to make minor fixes that could have been done in an hour.

After seeing the backlash on your old thread regarding your reviews, I’m glad you came back to post what could be done to fix the issue/s. I took the time to watch your latest review, and it is certainly constructive.
