Footstep sounds with auto landscape material

I was finding how to apply different footsteps on different surfaces “using auto landscape material”. As I searched around, all of the tutorial videos explaining how to play different footstep sounds were using multiple ‘materials’ for the landscape, while auto landscape material videos were using multiple ‘texture files’ to paint the landscape. I searched for some posts asking what I was finding for, but I couldn’t find something helpful.

Is this really still impossible in Unreal Engine 5? Should I just paint my landscape manually in exchange of realistic appearance?
