Football IKs

The title was a bit vague, so let me explain.

I want to make a football game which is a bit different to football. But I am really struggling on ideas on how to make the movement feel more “right”. I had an idea where perhaps I could use some animation techniques to maybe get the feet of say, a third person example character to follow a ball. To maybe, get the opposite of the forward vector and position the foot around that kind of area? I have no idea, I am a noob at this and I can’t say I know much if anything about animating in Unreal. If anyone here who knows about animating was going to attempt this, where would you be looking? Where do you think I should begin?
