Hey all. I noticed an issue where painting with the Foliage tool is inconsistent. I initially painted a scene with trees and grass on a Static Mesh. When I opened the scene the next day, for whatever reason the brush tool would not function correctly, and even with the foliage actors checked, the tool would not paint the trees or grass on the ground. I ever created a simple box using Unreal Engines’s modeling tools, and it worked one day and stoped working the next. I have no idea what could cause this and I just want to confirm it is a glitch and not a misstep on my part.
- Static Mesh is checked on for painting in the Foliage Tool interface
- When troubleshooting I have tried to rebuild the collision object
- As of now I have a variety of foliage mesh and at least a thousand of each in the scene. Could the issue be related to a foliage limit of some kind?
- Yes I could remake the scene and potentially not have this issue if I paint everything all at one time, but I have had this issue on another project as well, and obviously this method is not ideal, so I wanted to know it there is a fix.
- Apparently this is a known issue as someone in 2017 posted a similar query for UE 4.27, so clearly this is an ongoing issue for years now. Surely this has been addressed in some way by now, right?
Any help would be much appreciated, especially that of the UE development team. (My appologies for blurring the outliner, I am working on a private project. I was selecting the static mesh actors turning them on and off.)
