Going on 12 hours of this thing looking to attach all my stuff on “near” to the ground.
Just wondering, so I don’t end-up wasting time, does this button actually work? I mean, it looks like its working, I guess. CPU @ 12-16% the entire time. RAM use is like 7GB for the exe process. Not that big of a deal. 12 Hours is a long time, its not like i have THAT much stuff done on my map lol.
After over 17 hours of it working on a small amount of foliage, i did an end-process … im going to go ahead and say that this function is not operational, or, is not working as intended.

We just ran into an issue where we had to move the foliage due to landscape height issues. The find ground function works its just tricky.
Follow these steps to make it work:
Adjust your LANDSCAPES height as you like it.
Select your PLACE tool and select all your LANDSCAPES in the scene outliner (on the right where you see all your assets).
Now select your FOLIAGE tool and press SELECT ALL.
Once done press FIND GROUND. (hit yes on the popup)
Now you will wait for hours but be patient it will happen.
Result should be perfectly adjusted foliage on the ground.

Don’t do it that way mate we found a solution that only takes like 30 seconds to do no waiting no lag.

In addition hide everything that can get in the way before finding ground, otherwise you will get foliage placed on other objects. An easy way to do this is to have your trees and ground foliage both on seperate layers, and everything else on another. That way you can hide rocks and trees and use find ground for the ground plants and it will actually find the ground instead of other objects.
previous versions did the find ground in seconds, its only the later patches that its gone from seconds to days
The feature is useless above 50 foliage pieces. So I don’t recommend using this method.
