Foliage culling material diagram is wrong

Hi, I was reading about foliage culling here:

At the end of the Culling section there’s an image of a material to demonstrate how to use the PerInstanceFadeAmount.

According to the document:

The problem? The image shows a material setup that simply multiplies the vertex color alpha channel by the texture red channel, no use of the PerInstanceFadeAmount node whatsoever:
