Flowstone Cave

Hello everyone!

I’ve started working on this environment earlier this week and I’m planning to release it as a free interactive experience sometime next week!

First off, the screenshots:

This environment has been built using a beta version of Luos’s upcoming cave and rock marketplace pack, and it’s meant to showcase that package a little bit by demonstrating what you can do with it in a relatively short amount of time

Since starting on it however this has grown into a veritable little walking simulator, with a toggleable flashlight, environmental floodlamps that can be dynamically switched on and off, a rich ambient sound environment, and - most importantly, in my opinion: Oculus Rift DK2 support. I’ve still got a bunch of items on my to-do list, but the plan is to release this for free next week! So stay tuned

Its really awesome!
I cant really believe thats the stuff I made. Kudo’s!

Wow, Really cool. This reminds me of some caves nearby. Cathedral Caverns. You really picked a good environment for lighting. One thing that might help is if you added a vertex painting component to the stalagmite material that could adjust the roughness from 0-1. That would let you very quickly add wet areas to the rocks.

The material is filled to the brim with vertex paint colors already, cant add any more. (long story)
That said, the roughness is highly controlable in the material instance, and you could do the same with a decal

Interesting though, perhaps a additional mask node could allow for at least affecting roughness on parts.
/me goes to ponder.

Nice idea, sanford87! As Luos has said, the material setup is kind of complete and convoluted already, but I’m definitely gonna see if I can’t tweak the roughness for the tips in some other way.

That looks awesome man. Love the lighting and overall feel of it.
