Fix XP Exploits by Limiting XP per Island per Day

Currently, a number of islands are created for the sole purpose of artificially granting a lot of XP. I think an easy solution is to limit the XP awarded per island per day. I am thinking something like the following. The numbers can be tweaked.

  • 10 x Very Small
  • 8 x Small
  • 4 x Medium
  • 2 x Large
  • 1 x Very Large

If this is accompanied with setting fixed values for the accolades, we will get more control over the awarded XP (less ways to exploit), and the added benefit of not needing a calibration period. Something like the following could work. Again the numbers are no final.

  • Very Small β†’ 100 XP
  • Small β†’ 200 XP
  • Medium β†’ 500 XP
  • Large β†’ 1000 XP
  • Very Large β†’ 2000 XP

To maximize the awarded XP, creators will simply vary the XP awards they add to their islands using more of the smaller ones. This all seems to align with the goals of the Accolades device.

I like where you are going with this. However, assuming those values are the final ones, that would mean 10,600 XP (assuming my math is right) per island per day. thats just a little over 1/8th of a level. That’s barely anything. I think a better change would be having just a normal XP or Level cap. There used to be a limit of 5 levels per day from creative maps but that got removed for some reason.

The numbers are just an example. I think using the average of what players earn in BR or Epic islands to come up with acceptable numbers would be the best approach, but I don’t have access to this data to refine the proposal.

The XP exploits issue is probably not as bad as it was when I made the proposal. Now, Epic has a dynamic system for XP that is acceptable for me.
