Fix Corruption from Undo (Ctrl + Z)

Twice now I have been in the ThirdPersonBlueprint and changed a float that I realized I wanted to undo, and twice now Unreal Engine (4.7) has froze for a long period of time and when it comes back up. Something is corrupted and cannot save, and I had to go back into my backup files and load in a older save to fix a broken component.

The first time my mesh inherited component broke and couldn’t be restored or replaced after it failed to import, the next time I couldn’t control my character and move after I tried to undo a value in my script.

I really don’t think it’s me, but twice now it has froze and corrupted a file in my project after I did Ctrl + Z.

had a same, now i just kill process on freeze, but since 4.8 i never had this again, maybe a coincidence

I think it may have had to do with auto-saving, probably trying to save it while it was froze to prevent data loss but instead it scrambled the data for an asset somewhere and failed to save it, probably even skipping it. It’s really annoying, but I’ll upgrade to 4.8 soon tonight to see if I happen to have the same error every now and then.

It’s a real pain to have to do work over again.

Hey,

The issue with ctrl+z has since been resolved in 4.8.0. If you update your editor to 4.8.0, you will no longer run into this issue. If you do, please let us know immediately via AnswerHub. Also, there is an unresolved issue with ctrl+z within the blueprint editor which has to do with losing progress with your history. We do not have an ETA on this specific bug at this time.

Have a great day!
