First time using UE4 :) Few questions

Hi guys, i’ve just pre-planned a project but I’ve never really dabbled in this sort of thing.

I have used maya a bit here and there but nothing to write home about! Anyways just a few questions.

I’m thinking of making an FPS so I’m currently working on the weapon. Hard surfaces are not my strong point!

Is it possible to have seperate meshes and just before im about to export, use the combine mesh in Maya? Things like the scope have been a nightmare (a lot more poly density than the actual rifle so to speak) so im hoping I can make it as a seperate mesh and it wont cause any issues with animation/rigging etc.

Also I’m not familiar at all with triangles, I’ve only ever modelled really using quads, does this matter?

Hi lezenko,
The Engine have the ability to combine meshes when you import it. There is a checkbox in the import window(I think its true by default).

There is also no problem with using quads. The engine will convert these quads into triangles.
