So I added a skeleton with root bone, and I have this animation with root motion in it too, but when I try to enabling it, it doesn’t work.
As you see I have “Enable Root motion” checked, same for “force root lock”.
Hey @BlueTitan99!
What exactly is not working? From the video you provided, there seems to be no issue.
To clear up any potential confusions, while the Enable Root Motion
property is enabled (regardless of whether Force Root Lock
is enabled or disabled), the character’s capsule component should follow the root bone. While the Enable Root Motion
property is disabled and the Force Root Lock
property is enabled, the animation should be played in place. And when neither is enabled, the character’s capsule component should be independent of the root bone.
Hope this helps!
ok, ty so much, would you be so gentle to also explain to me why on earth disabling “enable root motion” is what I was supposed to do to actually use the root motion?
Great to hear you got it working as intended But disabling root motion of course doesn’t turn root motion on, maybe your expectations were different. If you’re still curious, you can show us both scenarios and we might be able to tell what’s going on. But I believe you wanted your animation to be in place and was manually launching the character to make it slide.
