First time modular Environment - Help!

Hi, this is my first time posting something here. I want to create a modular environment in Unreal Engine like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJnAuVtwxPI&list=PL9xOgGDOvp8yzjFD4s19RIc_dQzKv_TG5&index=6

My idea is to create a small stylized house. Is there any guide that talks about sizes or recommendations to create modular environments? I want to create all my assets from scratch, so I would like to know what would be the best approach to optimize the final assembly (sizes you recommend, the use of snap to grid, etc). Thanks!

Hello Ibelan, Welcome to the Forums.

Nice video. You’ll commonly see Modular assets built on a 100cm grid (For example, a Wall 400-600cm wide) This is the default in UE.

Historically a ‘Power of 2’ grid was used more. (It can be easily changed in UE, but is not the default. (Editor Preferences → ‘Use Power of Two Snap Size’))

Think about placement of the origin point of the meshes as well.

There are many free asset packs on the UE Marketplace that contain modular building pieces for you to look at.

I think there will be potential to create and sell assets that work with UEFN standards in the near future too.
