First Person Rig

Im curious to know what are the requirement if you want to create and import your own first person rig in UE4, including any animations as well.

Do you need to have a UE4 template or can you simply export your file to the correct format and import it?

If your rig is already animated and has the bones then you can just import it in to Unreal Engine and then set up your Character Blueprint to use the new mesh.

If your right is not animated, it would at least need to have a skeleton so that you can re-target the animations to your new rig.
