First Person Device Feedback Thread

Video is set to unlisted so only those with the link can view

0-15 seconds shows some strange occurrence’s usually when sprinting near something and then attempting to turn, almost like an over-erratic shake (hoping this can be sorted whatever causes it - quite a horrible effect)

15 - 32 seconds

At the time was using a character called Felina, when running & sliding it looks like the leg is coming from your neck / shoulder area, hoping this is just something that’s been worked on having to update characters look / animation which would take a long time with all the many characters available.

When looking down on sliding it’s not as bad but looking forward on a slide with this character the leg looks like its on your left upper area

32 - 44 seconds

Running in straight line, watch the cross hair on screen - unsure if this is the finished product but there is some strange movement it sort of murmurs / sways in tiny increments but doesn’t look or feel right, hoping this can be taken out or re-worked it doesn’t make me feel any motion sickness but the longer you run around or test against guards (for me anyhow) has me thinking 1st person mode won’t get the boom effect it should get on release.

This mode is the reason why I came over to Fortnite with UEFN launching so been waiting some time, would rather see it delayed further with more tweaking than release as is with this experimental version.

44-50 seconds

just showing that again where if you watch the sights the movement it looks like someone has hold of you and is shaking you a tint fraction left to right as they are running forward - play it like that for a while it starts to get annoying

50 seconds - 1 minute

just showing a different character, the slide feels much better with the position of the legs compared to the other character I used

1 minute 02 seconds - end of clip

just running in a straight line one more time, showing that movement, lots of 1st person shooters have like a sway effect but this feels more like a shake it’s quite bad IMO

Hoping things can be improved, it’s on the right track, I want it to be bang on & take some players away from other games so worth holding it back some more to get it right.

Also some commenting they would like to see the weapon when running, unsure how much more work that would be - my issue is the movement

We need an option to control the head-bobbing amount. Right now when using a higher movement multiplier, it gets really bad.

  1. If a player has a vfx powerup applied it doesnt show on the arm (Not big but still it could be the only indicator the player has)

  2. The striker ar does 156 headshot and can insta kill someone as it sometimes fires twice

Request:

When using the vfx powerup to attach to the head of the player the vfx is visible on the screen in front of the player slightly. This is fixable by adjusting the niagra vfx position but i think a simply checkbox used with 1st person or something should apply an offset to the vfx head attachment by default

Update:

When running around with a weapon equipped with every other player view of you, you have no weapon in your hands which just looks pretty bad

They is also some extreme weird behavior with the sniper rifle. I’m comparing it to all other aim standards so that could be why but when your aimed in with the sniper to the right of a persons head and move left fast and shoot even though the cross hair aligns with the persons head it always shoots at the previous location its like they is a delay

I’d love an option in this device to remove pickaxe when the device is active. I have a regular FFA map that I want to add the First Person option to, but when they equip their pickaxe it will take them back to first person. I’m sure there is a way that I could remove the players pickaxe when they activate the device, but i’m not that advanced. And I can’t just turn it off in Island Settings because then when the player is playing the game while in third person they wouldn’t have their pickaxe and it wouldn’t make sense. So something like “Remove players pickaxe when device is active” - On/ Off. Would be a really nice feature.

The first person device should work as it is described by the naming. When the camera is equipped everything including the character should be first person. Currently i believe only weapons work and this causes me an issue in the game I’m creating. The game I’m making is a farming simulator and as I’m sure you will agree not many farmers have a sub machine gun so currently this doesn’t work for me. Regardless of what the player has equipped the First Person camera should work. If the player has anything not weapon related it should work in my examples the items are apple, corn and gliders. Nothing works in First Person.

If the player has nothing equipped then his hands/pickaxe handle should be visible it shouldnt be going in and out of different modes ie first → 3rd person as it looks awful and i think its been rushed tbh.

I have to now bodge together a working view using the other cameras because this device does not work with a simple apple or corn like seriously ???

Further more i spent a good 2 hours working out it wasn’t my verse/game but instead just because i wasn’t using a weapon. I feel you need to explain and inform creators of this fact as it caused me alot of doubt and wasted time.

Im sure in the future the device will work better and as one would imagine it does but currently i gotta say im not impressed

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share some feedback on the first-person mode. One of the biggest challenges I’m facing is the lack of an easy way to add bots for testing. Without bots that simulate real players, it’s tough to evaluate gameplay balance and dynamics properly.

I believe a simple, integrated bot solution would greatly enhance the testing experience and help refine the mode. Has anyone found any workarounds or are there plans to address this?

Thanks for your thoughts and support!

What are you on about ???

That has nothing to do with the First Person Device

Why doesn’t it apply? I have used this device and have this observation. I’m sorry you’re so outraged.

I wasn’t trying to be funny so if it came across like that then i apologies but when i read it i thought that is its own thing not connected to the fps device.

Anyways if you check the road map the testing players is due at some point

Thanks! I was just sent a link to the roadmap in a neighbouring thread. It was useful to know about it.
