: First person action-tower defence game

Hey there,
I’d like to introduce my team, as well as show off our project a bit. We are a 5 man student team currently in our fifth term of the .

is a singleplayer, 3D first person “mech warrior style” action tower defence game set in a fantasy world. In the player pilots a wooden, ramshackle mech to defend their mountain top home from an attack by a greedy dwarven guild. The player’s mech is armed with a giant crossbow and catapult that they use to fight back and destroy the advancing dwarves. The dwarves themselves dynamically form into defensive phalanxes before they march toward the player.
The player must also capture oil derricks around the map which provide Oil for the player to use special weapons and abilities, and purchase defensive turrets. The player wins the game by destroying the dwarven cave entrances situated in different locations around the map.

provides a unique player experience and asks the important question, “What if Michael Bay had directed the battle of Helms Deep?”. brings arcade shooter action to the tower defence genre by switching the focus from a defensive role to a more offensive role where the player brings the fight directly to the enemy forces.

is the first Unreal 4 game to be designed at . As such the team has had a rather exciting time, self-teaching and problem solving while in production.

On the tech side, the game is being built entirely using the Blueprint scripting system. Blueprint has allowed the team to rapidly iterate on our design and so far not a single line of code has been written for the project.

Welcome to the forums, ! Love seeing games that integrate two types of well-established game play in order to attempt something fresh (tower defense/FP controls). Glad to see some students putting the engine to good use, as well! Keep us updated as you get further along

Cool. I love the phalanx stuff.
