Finished UE5 Air-Strip project, Pilot and Bomber

This started as a sculpt of the Siwoo Kim concept (which I loved) that got away from me.
After finishing the pilot I went to Max Marharit and asked if I could borrow his amazing bomber model. Max was incredibly generous in trusting me with not only the bomber concept model, but also the helicopter model seen in the background. He also provided pretty amazing feedback and inspiration on the whole project as I tried out ideas in UE5 - really appreciate his eye and attention to detail.

The bomber and helicopter concept models weren’t built for a game engine so texturing them was a challenge. Rather than a whole game model process I instead shaded them in UE5 with procedural textures for edge wear, dirt/dust, occlusion, etc. and a lot of decals.
The background characters are sculpted from 3dScanStore models that I already owned. My workflow here was to dynamesh the scans and sculpt until I got something I liked, take them to marvelous for sim, touch ups and vertex colors in zbrush, pose and decimate for Unreal. The shading model is super basic and uses their exported vertex colors instead of diffuse to save time.

Other objects in the scene, the helmet, wheel-stairs, visors, etc. are more traditional game models made and shaded by me for this scene. There are also quite a few megascans assets from their library, as well as some military props and other models from a UEmarketplace pack.

Again, just a huge thank you to Max for his help and his models and his feedback.

Hello @Yuri_Alexander ! Welcome to posting here with us on the UE forums! We are so happy to have you here and see your wonderful projects!

I was drawn to this as unique ships and planes are very interesting to me so I was curious what spin you’d have on it and I was swept away for sure! The story that is told with every detail you showcase it put together in a very unique manner. You capture the busywork while showcasing people wanting to showcase more than just the ship by taking the picture of the pilot! It beings a sense of humanity to your work that I truly appreciate.

Keep it up and I hope we can see more from you soon!
