I would have said “Or play it” but then I remembered I only beat resident evil village 8 becuase I was streaming it and decide its better… Not to get a heart attack so soon
Here we are another week! I decided to not do a complex asset this week to destroy all the smaller ones left so I have more time to think more filling! Some weird… Issues aside like unreal streaming pool getting wonky (Why is over every time I look at a wall!?) and having to cut one arm from the hands, here we are in another week of “Horror hospital”!
So as always, first our new props! Behold how hard I worked this week (Jokes aside, they are kinda very simple props so its easy)
Now… Some advancements on the non bookmark areas! I decided to stop using a window as a mirror since most people have mirrors and not windows in their bathroom walls. I would say the janitor room is done aside of needing more filler props and all that. I am awful at filling spaces still, working on it!
And now… Our bookmarks! If im honest I have favorites amongs them like the creepy weelchair room full of blood
My sequences video its too heavy to upload sadly so uh, theres that. Also had to make the doors wider becuase the first person just… couldnt get through the normal ones? Quite funny.
So thats all on this week! Also I added this to my reel homework and went nuts and added a sound door going into the door sequence on the end of the reel so its gonna be hilarious when my teacher sees it and goes “Oh no”
See you next week! Very grateful of all the care and attention my little project its receiving!
Hi there @netzahre,
Hope you’re doing well!
AHHH. The art style you’re going with is just perfect. Especially all the exposed concrete and rusted metal.
Definitely looking forward to seeing more of this project and getting jump scared eventually.
I am thanks!
And thanks! I dont know really how much further than a videogame art school final project it will go since im just studying environment art and some basic unreal blueprinting here but it truly feels weird ot make all the atmosphere and not make it at least something playable hm…
… Weull, im not known for being measured, so once its finished if I am allowed I might try add some events for jumpscares, some random noises that make you be on your toes and try to actually make a small playable terror thing. Will look into it!
Just three weeks left! Im terrified!
So here we are again, I finished all the props I had originally planned and now am on the storytelling phase where I try think new cool props and stuff to add!
But first our newcomers to my props made
Quite proud of that wheelchair! Now all bookmakrs look ok!
I hope it loads but I also made this material thing like dead space in-engine thing? I dont know how its called but its quite interesting we were thaught it, mine works a bit weird though and Idk why
And thats it! Not a really interesting week but things should pick up from now on!
Not sure why the “horror keyboard” made me giggle but it certainly did. Great job on the assets this week. Keep it up!
Other people “Im putting a zombie head”
Me “Look at my horror low poly keyboard!”
Sooo here we are again! Just a couple weeks before the 12th where this project NEEDS to be the coolest, most finished awesome horror hospital with horror keyboard!
I had absolutely no idea what other assets I could make so I dug into megascans for creepy dolls, found a creepy statue and cool decals and here we are, decals and heads in!
As always first our usual suspects! The 5 bookmarks! as you notice the wall has suffered a clear lack of maintenance in the last week, there was a fight in the dining room and in general it all looks in complete desarray even more! Oops!
And now… the parts we dont see! I maybe should change one of the bookmarks for one of these cause some make me uncomfortable! I went with “What would make me alt-f4 from the game just by being there?” as the measurement of fear.
I didnt add spiders becuase that would make me alt-f4 out of unreal first yikes!
So that’s it! A weekend spent in putting a LOT of decals and trying to come up with a sinister, interesting story!
One week left! Me? Scared? Nah!
I didnt do anything too interesting… I added fog and tanked my fps in like 30fps somehow, probably volumetric fog + lumen its a fps killer mix but its still in the 80’s so I’m not too worried. (I should I have a beefy pc)
images!
Not much to say, might need to tweak the fog a bit becuase rn its like my glasses when I open a dishwasher that just finished running, tried to get extra fps by cutting textures game render max size but no way and im getting some strange errors of supposed collission issues in the decals
Fun fact though! The camera screen now shows what you point at! Only downside its that I couldnt get the decal I made for the battery and all that to work but at least the screen showing stuff works!
Well so this is it! Last update fellas!
I added the project on my portfolios and all that, which means you get to see the sequences this time for real! Yay!
Pics first though!
I have an unreal engine 5 bug that makes the Ambient occlusion be all white in both the preview and the renderer but i will figure it out I guess, for now lets say goodbye to each other and this project for now with the sequences video!
Thanks for accompanying me through this project! I wasnt asked to update anyone on this project this week but I dont like to leave people wondering what happened, yknow?
Without further ado, sequences!

Greetings @netzahre !
I’m sorry that you encountered a bug during your project. It happens to the best of us!
Thank you for sharing your fly-through! Let me just say that if I came across this scene in real life, it would be a NOPE for me! LOL! I can imagine stumbling across this abandoned hospital, peeking in, and that wheelchair starts moving slowly by itself while a whisper of a disembodied voice says “wwwwelcome” on a wisp of air past my ear! NOPE!
How do you feel now that your project is complete? What’s next for Netzahre? What was the most frustrating part of your project and what has been the most rewarding?
I couldnt fix it but whatever! Next time Im sure it will be fixed so its all good
I was already feeling quite anxious with my own scene, I am a HUGE scaredy cat, I played resdient evil 7 with cheats and the light at max and still I was terrified sooo… This was fun! The wheelchair bit was inspired by that game even!
I feel a bit more relaxed! While it was fun, the time limit and being a bit out of ideas eventually was a bit draining because I couldnt quite figure out how to improve it further but didnt had enough time to make assets and get them checked out by the teacher. It was frustrating!
Next I will probably use these skills along with my character skills to maybe put my own characters in scenery to further improve my renders, not sure, for now I have some commissions going on I want to focus on and some videogame ideas I will make in the future once a programmer friend graduates!
The most frustrating part was the limit + lack of ideas that didnt let me just make more assets and see what sticks vs at the start of the project, sometimes its hard to get out of this blocked rut where Im not sure how to improve or add to a scene, adding the time limit sure made it worse because i couldnt stop thinking about it!
The most rewarding was actually finishing it! I normally do cute, cartoon things, stylized is my jam so a scary realistic hospital was totally out of my comfort zone! I at first thought I wouldnt figure out even the blocking but at the end here we are! With a terrifying hospital!
Hi @netzahre !
Thank you so much for your candid response! I appreciate the honesty coming from a student game developer! We usually see the finished project and have no idea of the ups and downs, the triumphs and failures, the challenges and rewards that go into creating even the least complicated builds. Working within a time limit can be understandably stressful - especially in the beginning when you have ideas that you don’t realize will take more time or skill to incorporate.
You will learn so much more once you collaborate with your programmer friend! A well-planned, well-thought out, well-executed game can take years to complete. You really have to stay committed to see your project all the way through to the end.
In anything involving creativity, you run the risk of hitting a creator’s block. When I find myself starting to sink into the black hole of a creator’s block, I try any or all of the following: go and do something else, look for inspiration in other unlikely or unexpected places, meditate, exercise, take a nap, soak up some sun, break things into smaller tasks, or listen to music. Eventually, you find your way out of it.
It was great of you to move out of your comfort zone and try something new! “Don’t limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.” (Now, I’ve got to go take my own advice! LOL!) I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors! I hope I haven’t been too long here.
BTW, do you have an Art Station account or a similar site where we can view your stylized art?
I’m more of a game art student VS developer actually! Kinda wish I knew how to do the other development areas though, such interesting areas of work I cant even grasp the inner workings of (yet!)
When I get blocked I normally consume other media, i’ve always found consuming media was helpful because most of my blocks come from a place of anxiety and self-conciousness, so if I see crazy ideas being popular it makes me go “Maybe I SHOULD do that crazy idea actually!”. Its dumb haha
I got an artstation and aside of social media like twitter and etc where im less pro, its more focused on the 3d art I make, right now its mostly my class projects but im waiting on permission to add a character model I made for vtubing and working on finishing some commissions to add to it too!

Hi again. I see you went with green walls and bricks. Did you ever feel, even a bit hurt or scared, sharing your works in progress to the public before you reached the end? The prop lineup was beautiful! All your hard work. All those gazes. (Yes I was very impressed with your wheelchair). I did notice the large spaces in the rooms. And you completed it! 5/5.
Hi, not bad)
