Final Fantasy VII Church Fanart

Recreated the church environment from Final Fantasy VII Remake as fan art. I made all the assets except a few small Megascans ones used like grass, rubble and decals stains. Always loved FF7 and looking forward to playing Rebirth next month! The rest of the breakdowns are on my artstation page. Hope you guys like it!

Hi there @dpham,

Hope you’re doing well and having a great week so far

I’ve recently became enamored with all things fantasy and as soon as I saw these images I got a little excited. The glass windows, the flower patch, the lighting - all just beautiful! And definitely reminiscent of a FF church. Wonderfully done and thanks for sharing.

Good luck with the Rebirth release. Hope it’s as fun as it looks

Thank you for the kind words!

Hi there @dpham !

Looking at your fanart reminds me of why I adore the Final Fantasy series as well as the fan community. The time and dedication you used to recreate one of the most beautiful areas in the remake is fascinating.

If I may ask, what inspired you to use this area in particular for your project?

Thank you :). Ever since I played the original FF7, the church was somehow one of the most memorable areas to me, maybe because of Aerith. I was excited to see it again in Advent Children, with that awesome Tifa vs Loz fighting scene.

Hey there @dpham !

I agree 100% on that. The fight scenes in Advent Children are one of my favorites that we get to see. It really fits the Final Fantasy grand battle aesthetic while still somehow managing to surprise me with each turn! The fight in The Forgotten Forest and the one with Cloud on the motorbike really appealed to me personally!

Do you think you’ll pull from Final Fantasy for inspiration on future projects?

Ah yes, that was a great scene too! I should rewatch the movie- super enjoyed it when it came out. Most games in general are a continuous source of inspiration for me, with FF being one of them. I do tend to lean toward RPGs and anything fantasy or sci-fi.

For me, if I had more time, I would take games that I loved playing growing up like Chrono Trigger, and remake a memorable scene or environment with modern graphics and in UE5, especially the Zeal Kingdom.

Hey there @dpham !

Fantasy and Sci-Fi as genres are so fantastic. It really lets one run wild and inspires a lot throughout the communities that they cultivate. It’s also amazing when pieces within those communities inspire new pieces to be made. Those genres have to be my favorites of all time in media because of the beauty that can be made from it!

Chrono Trigger is a game I’ve not heard about in such a long time. Gosh, I barely remember it at this point, haha. However, trying to interpret and reimagine things like that would take a considerable amount of time which is a little sad. I would be thrilled to see how you would envision such things with your keen eye for detail!
