Does anyone know why there is a suggested limit in the guidelines? From what I can tell this was an older limitation in the earlier days of either windows or the engine but I wonder if it’s still a thing? I have emailed epic as well but I prefer not to abbreviate too much or condense all the assets into like one main folder to avoid going over the limit.

Hey there @Frommy! You are correct. This limitation goes back to the file system/application limitations of some older systems. For windows specifically some systems up to Windows 7 still had this limitation (with a registry method of removing it). Now I believe base length is 255 but expanded is over 1000 characters. Though I’m unsure how much this recommendation is weighed from the marketplace team. It’s more than likely to avoid causing other’s projects from hitting whatever their OS’ limit is.
