Feedback for Fab, A Year after Launch

Has this ever happened to You?

It has been a year since Fab launched! It wasn’t the best launching of a product Epic Saw, I think they’ve made strides to improve over this past year. With some useful features. I’m still waiting for Collections and Bundles so we can easily build deals as sellers to offer year round discounts. Or even vouchers.

However, there is one issue that has persisted since launch

I’ve gotten enough complaints about it that I decided to make this video

THE VIDEO

I’m never happy to complain when a platform like Fab has somekind of issue. But this issue, with Scaling and Orientation, continues to plague many models, whose source files work perfectly with their targeted engines.

I hope this issue is resolved soon enough.

I believe this issue must take priority over any others that may be present. It’s gotten me thinking, what is the point of having so many heads of different departments if the baseline development team won’t fix the biggest of issues.
How can this be?

Malformed meshes upon import? Errors causing bizarre issues like this are the cause for many negative reviews, and it does not fall on the creators of every upload. But rather the developers of the platform.
I think it’s incredibly irresponsible to allow the community that built these websites with their art and coding projects like this. As there has been no effort in acknowledging this issue. I think the Sketchfab viewer has received great quality of life updates for Uploaders. However, this does not extend to the customer side. True, we now have accessed a Unity version of the Plugin and a Live Link to Maya, Blender and other software. But I have never believed these features to be totally mission-critical. At least the Blender and Maya connections, anyway. I still think Unity’s integration was key. Especially given their newly unveiled partnership.

I’d like to see Fab’s development team work on these changes. to deliver an even better product for the sellers and an amazing value for it’s customers. Because competition is plenty in a world where Sketchfab’s storefront had been closed when Skethfab was already the internet’s most trusted platform for 3D models.

I really do just want to give some honest feedback.

But I digress.
