Feedback and Suggestions for Fortnite Keybinds and UI Improvements

Dear Fortnite Team,

I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to share some suggestions to improve the user experience, especially for players who prefer fast and efficient gameplay.

  1. Lobby Keybinds:
  • Please add a keybind to open the Library (recently played and favorites) directly from the lobby.
  • The current keybind P for ready status is confusing because pressing it again does not cancel the ready status, requiring manual cancellation.
  1. In-Game Inventory Navigation:
  • Make inventory navigation more keyboard-friendly. Currently, players can cycle through items using arrow keys, but they are far from the natural resting position of hands. Adding A and D keys for cycling through items would improve ergonomics.
  • I would like a keybind to select and swap weapons, so I don’t have to use mouse dragging. Adding such a keybind would speed up inventory management.
  1. Voice Channel Settings:
  • Please add an option to set a default voice channel in the settings, like preferring the party channel.
  • Currently, joining a public game alone automatically places players in the game voice channel, which can be noisy due to unintended open mics.

Thanks for considering these suggestions. I believe they can help make Fortnite more accessible and enjoyable, especially for players who prefer keyboard controls and smoother voice chat options.

I find that browsing the shop is also non-obvious… well, I can’t work out navigation keybinds anyway.

On a laptop: I drag the trackpad to go down one line in the shop and it jumps 2-3 lines, quite hard to line up… compared to turning back on the controller and tapping it’s down arrow a single time, or plugging in a mouse and notching the scrollwheel one time.

If this were Reddit, pointing it out would result in a downvote-bomb by “gamers”… but the reality is that accessibility exists, and as Epic moves to the metaverse model, many islands (including 2 of Epics own templates) can be 100% keypad-only controls and dont need a mouse at all. :joystick:

Epic crew have no reason to navigate their own UI as they can externally allocate anything they need, so it might not be noticed by anyone other than their UX lead.
