February Flash Sale was disapointing

As a seller, I had the opportunity to participate in the February sale from the 18th to the 21st, where I was able to offer discounts on several assets. Now that the event has concluded, I can honestly say that this sale was incredibly underwhelming. Despite offering some of my best-selling products at discounted prices, the sales performance was no better than on a typical day. It seems that the buyers may not have even been aware that a sale was happening.

One major issue appears to be the visibility of the sale itself. The FAB front page lacks engagement, with the sale banner easily going unnoticed. Additionally, the event was far too short, wrapping up before many customers even had the chance to see it. Overall, it feels like the marketing efforts for this sale were insufficient, Epic may have cut down a lot on FAB marketing budget and it shows.

For comparison, if you visit the Unity Asset Store, there’s always events going on there, you’ll immediately notice prominent sale events featured on the homepage. Anyone who visits can quickly spot the ongoing promotions. Unfortunately, FAB’s approach is much more subtle and needs substantial enhancement in terms of marketing visibility and timing.

Hope to see improvements in the next events.

Speaking as someone who takes an interest in sales, the problem is what everybody has been discussing on here ever since FAB came up. Namely

  1. The search is $hit.

  2. There’s no favorites

Personally, I had a very quick look, but couldn’t be bothered to sieve through the torrent of AI garbage on the site. Thousands of tons of AI swill is absolutely fine, as long as there’s a decent search algorithm. At the moment, even simple searches don’t work, let alone anything more elaborate.

If we had favorites, at least we could go straight for that list. A simple text matching search would take about half a day to make, even better if you could exclude certain combinations. So, one day, tops…

I really don’t know what the Epic ‘logic’ is for this. Are they making the site just to keep us happy? Apparently they’re not trying to make money with it.

Unfortunately, happy customers doesn’t mean you earn more money. They probably hired some analyst, who told them this way they will earn 5% more.

It’s the same reason grocery stores put their milk and bread products at the back at store and cheap snacks right at the front.

If you’re committed to buying an asset, you will spend more time on the site and look at more products. Maybe be tempted to buy a $0.99 AI asset.

Maybe not, but customers who can actually find stuff, will make money

People want a good experience, not a constant fight. There are other markets springing up all over the place ( Kitbash, Bigmediumsmall, Cosmos ), and shoppers will eventually go elsewhere…

Admittedly, the first two are distance composition only, but things like Cosmos are starting to look more attractive

We should have more filters and partial wishlist next week, that should at least improve search (if sellers do proper tagging too). Let see how this goes

I couldnt even join the sale because still waiting for the address verification hah and please Abby dont say that I’m able to say outside from eu. Our %99 of customers are from eu.

The good news is that you didn’t miss out on anything by not participating. We were promised wishlists this month, hopefully this will make the next sale better.

The thing is it a partial wishlist, there won’t be a notification email when the wished item is discounted on the first version.

I bet this will confuse everyone including sellers. I hope this wont encourage fab to avoid any sale event just for that reason tho.

That’s it - reviews, also missing…

Can you give some examples of search queries you use that show only AI? All the searches I do show human made products with the title matches being first.

I don’t think you can deliberately match AI content.

Clears throat Stitch incoming…

Trust in FAB is practically nonexistent, and whatever faith we had in Epic was shattered by the disastrous rollout of this new marketplace. The user experience has been nothing short of terrible, and let’s not even start on the questionable quality of most of the assets available. The Unreal Engine Marketplace might’ve only contributed a tiny fraction—maybe 0.1%—to Epic’s revenue. From a business perspective, it seems more like a liability than an asset.

Enter FAB: a marketplace that’s become a goldmine for scammers looking to make a quick buck—at the expense of legitimate, hardworking creators. Epic made this problem worse by removing two critical safety nets from the old marketplace: questions and reviews. These weren’t just features; they were the community’s best defense. If someone uploaded pirated or subpar content, it didn’t take long for buyers to call it out. New customers had a layer of protection when deciding where to spend their money.

But Epic’s push for “more content” came at a huge cost—real creators were shoved aside to make room for quantity over quality. Now, the marketplace is flooded with thousands of worthless, and sometimes stolen, assets. Worse still, these low-quality or illegal items are mixed in with legitimate products, making it nearly impossible to spot the difference. This isn’t just negligence—it borders on malicious behavior and, in some countries, could even be considered illegal.

There was a time when buying from the Unreal Marketplace was simple—you didn’t think twice because the quality was dependable. Now? You’re left wondering if that $49.99 asset you just bought is stolen trash. If it’s a flawed model from a genuine creator, that’s forgivable. But getting scammed by a thief? That’s not just a legal risk—it damages the reputation of the creator, the buyer, and any client relying on that asset. It’s a lose-lose for anyone trying to do honest work.

And that’s why sales are down. For every genuine artist on FAB, there are ten scammers ready to take advantage. It only takes one bad experience to lose trust in a platform forever. Anyone who’s tried dealing with digital refunds knows—it’s easier not to buy at all than to fight to get your money back

The infinite scroll is the problem. I couldn’t finish scrolling the sale list so I leave it to continue the next day. The tab went to sleep and and I come back, it refreshes. It happens a few times so I couldn’t be bother to scroll. The old marketplace did by page, and I can continue to last seen item.

Add it to the list…

Personally, I used to buy new products on the weekly and several during sales. Always looking at my Favorites to see if something is on sale and maybe finally decide to get it [that push over the line I needed to convince myself!]. Now, you trog through AI created content [labeled or not -we can all tell AI generated for the most part. Esp 2d.]

I had no idea about the sale mentioned right now because I don’t go to FAB’s market place as often as I did Epic. IT’s too … cumbersome. And the Launcher? Crashes everytime I go into the vault Library, so don’t really look at it much either. And Favorites? Non-existent.

I do hope Epic/FAB dev’s do fix this up but UEFN is far more of a priority and AI content is very used, and they clearly don’t care about any legal ramifications or worries. They just wanna play fortnite.

We’ll see!
