In the World Outliner, the Make Current Folder command is currently available only through the folder’s context menu.
I would like to request a more direct way to make the folder of the currently selected Actor the Current Folder.
This could be implemented as either:
- A keyboard shortcut for Make Selected Actor’s Folder Current
- A Make This Actor’s Folder Current option in the Actor’s context menu
Current problem
On large levels containing thousands of Actors and many nested folders, locating the selected Actor’s parent folder can be very time-consuming.
Pressing F in the World Outliner correctly focuses the selected Actor. However, this is a different action and, naturally, it does not change the Current Folder.
If the folder contains many Actors, focusing the selected Actor may place the folder row itself far outside the visible area. As a result, I still have to:
- Scroll through a large part of the World Outliner
- Find the Actor’s parent folder
- Right-click the folder
- Select Make Current Folder
This operation has to be repeated frequently when working on large and heavily organized levels.
Requested behavior
When an Actor is selected, there should be a direct way to perform the same action as manually selecting Make Current Folder on the Actor’s parent folder.
A keyboard shortcut would make this operation very fast. However, adding Make This Actor’s Folder Current directly to the Actor’s context menu may be even more useful and discoverable for most users.
In many cases, the context-menu option alone would already solve the problem without requiring users to assign or remember an additional keyboard shortcut.
Why this would be useful
This would allow users to select any Actor in the viewport or World Outliner and immediately make its parent folder current, without manually searching for that folder.
It would significantly improve the level-design workflow and save a lot of time when working with large levels.
It is a small editor improvement, but it would make folder-based organization in the World Outliner much more practical.
