Hi Epic Team,
I’d like to request a new feature for MetaHuman Creator: a one-way mirror override.
Currently, MetaHuman Creator offers a symmetry editing mode where adjustments are applied to both sides simultaneously. While helpful, this is not a true mirroring function. The underlying MetaHuman assets and blend shapes are inherently asymmetrical, and as we work with them over time, small differences accumulate. This means that even when using symmetry mode, adjustments often drift, leaving features like the eyes, brows, or jawline noticeably misaligned.
What’s missing is a way to pick one side of the head or body as the source of truth and copy it over to the other side. For example, if the left eye is in the correct position and shape, I should be able to mirror it directly onto the right eye. Right now, there’s no way to do this.
What I’m specifically asking for:
-
A tool to mirror Left → Right or Right → Left, overriding the other side.
-
The option to apply this on the entire head or just on selected regions (eyes, brows, mouth, jaw, etc.).
-
Integration alongside the existing symmetry toggle, so we can switch between symmetry editing and one-way mirror override.
This would solve the persistent issue of working with assets that are not truly symmetrical. Without such a tool, the more you push and blend shapes, the more difficult it becomes to maintain balance, because each tweak compounds the underlying asymmetry.
I believe adding a one-way mirror override would make MetaHuman Creator significantly more precise when needing an override.
Thanks for considering this improvement — it would remove a major roadblock in polishing MetaHumans to a professional standard.
