Feature Request: Long-lived matchmaking for Roleplay and Social islands

Hello Epic Team,

I would like to suggest a matchmaking improvement that could greatly benefit long-lasting Fortnite Creative experiences, especially Roleplay (RP), social, and open-world islands.

Currently, public sessions seem to stop receiving new players much sooner than before. Instead of continuing to fill an existing session, matchmaking often creates new sessions, which can split the player population across multiple servers.

For example:

  • A Roleplay island reaches 40/40 players.
  • After some players leave, the server drops to 30, 20, or fewer players.
  • New players are often placed into new sessions instead of filling the existing one.
  • The original server loses activity much faster.

For RP experiences, this has a big impact because the goal is to create a living world with many players interacting together.

In the past, sessions seemed to stay active and continue filling for much longer periods, allowing communities to build up naturally.

Feature suggestion:

Add a matchmaking option for creators, such as:

  • Prioritize Existing Sessions
  • Long-Lived Sessions
  • Keep Filling Active Servers

This option would allow certain experiences to keep filling existing public sessions before creating new ones.

This would be very useful for:

  • Roleplay islands
  • Social experiences
  • Open-world maps
  • Long-session survival games

Fast match experiences could continue using the current matchmaking system.

Giving creators this choice would help keep large communities together and improve the player experience.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.

J’approuve fortement !
