Hello everyone who wants to change their Text Font Size of a text_block from Verse,
I regret to inform you that that is not possible as up now…
This is why I am making this feature request because I could not find another one but stumbled across a lot of other creators who are annoyed by this unavailable basic feature.
(I am well aware that you can work around certain cases with the hud_message_device but that does not work as soon as things get more advanced)
As a Programmer myself I understand that implementing a feature that seems simple to other probabiliy is not as easy as it seems to implement, but this would really be a much needed one to create visually pleasing and informative UIs in Verse.
Something like a DefaultTextSize : float parameter and a [text_block].SetTextSize(Size : float) would be awesome!
You guys at the Verse development team did a truly amazing job with this language and also the UI design implementation and it is completely understandable that some features like custom buttons ore the use of materials in UIs is not yet implemented (I am really looking forward to create with those tools added in the future) but text size seems like a so low hanging fruit which would make all of our creator lives (and therefore our games) soooo much better!
Thank you very much!
Kind Regards Ben
PS: If you would like this feature added soon, like this post so a developer eventually gets to see this!
VerseUI does leave a lot to be desired and textsize “should” be easy to implement. Epic might not want creators however able to set text like 3pt due to the various screen resolutions of different devices, platforms etc but even the ability to set maybe 5 size settings, Xsmall, small, med, large, xlarge would be nice. That and the ability to set the Text Color on Buttons would be pretty nice! I’ve thrown my vote into the ring so I’ll keep watching this too!
I remembering asking for this maybe 6 months ago via live yt chat still not a thing. I think verse ui will be forgotten about by then tbh the ui widgets are getting so much more powerful and simpler to use.
Yeah I get your point but then we would need a much more sophisticated, more advanced way to control these ui blueprints with verse. Because it is kinda wired: you need verse to build great games but devices to make everything pretty and the bridge between these two is far behind: so you either have a good but trash looking game or a great looking game with not so interesting mechanic. Choose your pill…
I have some awesome games that i use verse and widgets no issues at all. I just think of the device as a verse device with custom mesh
Anyways you can now add widget ui direct to players ui via verse now without the need of the device so its getting better
