Hello Unreal Engine Developers and Community,
I’m currently working on a project that involves creating a light installation previsualization platform using Unreal Engine. This platform aims to facilitate the design and testing of complex light installations without the need for physical prototypes.
However, I have encountered a significant limitation that is currently affecting the scope and realism of our project. Currently, Unreal Engine’s DMX implementation restricts a single DMX fixture to only one DMX universe, which is limited to 512 channels. This limitation does not align with the demands of complex light installations, where it is common for fixtures to span across multiple DMX universes.
The ability for DMX fixtures to span across multiple DMX universes is a key feature that’s expected in industry-standard pixel mapping software. In complex light installations, I often work with high-resolution pixel fixtures and devices that require more than 512 channels. Without this feature, Unreal Engine is significantly limited in its ability to fully visualize these complex designs.
In summary, I kindly request the development team to consider adding this feature into the upcoming versions of Unreal Engine. I believe it would greatly benefit not only me but also the wider community working on similar projects or in related fields.
Thank you for considering our request. I look forward to the continued evolution and improvement of Unreal Engine.
Best Regards
Deibjerg
