Fbx reimport without losing work

Hello everyone,
I imported an fbx into level as a blueprint and started making changes in the blueprint (transforms, etc) and also attaching my own materials because I didn’t need the ones in the fbx.
At some point I made changes to the geo in maya, exported a new version of the fbx and used the Reimport in Unreal.
I was hoping to keep my tweaks and shader attachments but I lost them instead.
Any solution to this?

Did you try disabling 'Reimport Hierarchy"?

I just did a test and that seemed to do what you ask.
