Whenever I import an fbx in unreal engine 5.1 with the content browser or using the file option, it creates a whole mess of materials and components, to the extent that I even watched a tutorial about it; normally you would just get a material file, a normal map and the mesh, but now theres like a thousand individual components although its a pretty simple mesh and I dont know what to do with them, How do i fix this? (the asset was imported from paint 3d after it was converted to fbx
)

It’s the same with Blender. If you have made something out of lots of parts, all those parts will come in separately, unless you combine them in the FBX export.
I think there is also an ‘import combined’ checkbox, you might try that.
The textures have to be import manually, and the materials have to be made manually.
Have you tried
File => Import into Level
