Is there any way to set defaults on the fbx import dialog, since every time I import a new object I have to set up the same parameters and that is just inconvenient for me.

I’m aware of that, but I’m not always importing all the assets I need at the same time. Most of the times I import one object, later I need another object so I import it and the fbx import dialog shows up again and I have to set up the parameters again.
In my experience it automatically saves those settings for the next time you go to import. As you can see my settings above are not default and those came up when I went to import.
It looks like it saves those settings in the following file
Saved/Config/Windows/EditorPerProjectUserSettings.ini
So yes, it should automatically save the changes you make to the fbx settings as long as it has write access to the Saved directory. If the Saved directory gets deleted which happens sometimes you will need to reset the settings most likely.
