Hi,
I’ve just been testing the new fbx export to 3dsmax.
its working pretty well.
but i have a question on how to get the undistorted images and 3d renders from the camera to align.
I tested the outer boundrey, and inner region. and both were close but a bit off compared to the 3d render.
I assume this is due to the 3d render not currently having the distortion.
so I guess I’m looking for a good workflow that I can get the distortion values into 3dsmax/vray.
I used Brown3.
3dsmax physical camera option for cubic or texture.
and the old vray physical camera has cubic/quadratic/texture/lens file (from vray lens analysis tool)
is the something in rc that corresponds with cubic? seems that would be easiest to transfer?
is there a way to somehow convert the distortion values that rc creates into a texture that’s usable by the 3dsmax camera?
fbx is a great new feature.
thanks
Hi,
Thank you for the post. We are glad that you like FBX export : )
I’m not sure if I understand. There is option in model export dialog of FBX to export cameras together with image undistort to FBX. This way you will have all what you need in FBX = model, cameras, undistorted images … this must be perfectly aligned.
Did you know about this feature?
What is your workflow ( repro steps ).
yes, i exported fbx a few times, with different settings on the undistort images.
I then compared the undistort versions as well as the original photo with the camera rendered from the fbx file in 3dsmax/vray.
I find the images are close, and with a bit of pan in photoshop I can make it work.
I think i found the outer boundary to be the closet.
I didn’t add any camera distortion to the 3d camera. which i guess where the problem could be.
when I tried this in photoscan a while ago. I had the same issue. so Its probably a workflow issue.
