I’m unable to import any of my animations anymore since 4.8. It is working just fine in 4.7.6.
I export just the bone hiearchy animation which I have always done.
I get a message saying there is no bone hierarchy which is nonsense. I’ve exported hundreds of animations and even reimporting my old animation files is now broken.
This is a big problem for me at its current state. I have to import everything into a 4.7.6 project and migrate.
Hi Eric thanks for the quick response. I have sent you a private message in the forums with the assets.
I was able to confirm if I export the mesh out with the animation, I can get it to work without doing the whole migration workaround. However, I would need to go back and re-export all of my previous work Hopefully, you guys can just flip the bit that got toggled =)
It looks like the Animation FBX you sent me has a Prefix setup on all the bones so all the bones are named SomethingRig::Root. I am not able to import that FBX even in 4.7.6. If you can, could reexport that one fbx and not include the Prefix and send it to me again?
Ok so after some investigation, this does appear to be an issue in 4.8 and we are currently testing a solution to the issue now. I will keep you informed as we work toward implementing a solution.
The bug number for this is UE-17384. It is already fixed in 4.9 Main Branch, but we are looking into having it integrated for a 4.8 hotfix. No promises as it hasn’t yet been integrated. Depends on if the fix is deemed as too major of a change for a hotfix.
