I have a skeletal mesh imported (works fine). But when I try to add a LOD for this in persona I just get the message in the bottom right corner: “Failed to import mesh for LOD1!” without any hint what UE doesn’t like about the mesh.
Any ideas what this means?
I can import both skeletal meshes (with same skeleton) fine. But I can’t import one as as LOD of the other.
I figured it out. If someone else encounters this problem:
If you export your different LODs as single FBX files make sure you give them the same name in 3ds MAX. I gave mine names (in MAX) like SK_coat_LOD0, SK_coat_LOD1, etc. But inside MAX they all need to have the same name. You can of course name the exported FBX however you like.
