Face Link to allow monocular video recording through USB-C cameras on Android

Now that we can generate MH facial animations from monocular video, could you make a feature in FACE LINK that lets users record monocular video from an external usb-c camera on Android?

This way users won’t need to spend north of $1000 for an android phone that supports Face Link.

The ability to accept video feed from an external USB-C (UVC) camera also makes it so we can use ligth-weight mocap helmets, rather than having a brick hanging off the actor’s face during the entire duration of a shooting.

There are apps like USBCAMERA that do exactly that on non-expensive phones (at 60fps), however the implementation with Live Link Hub, would enable users to start the monocular capture remotely.

Hi @grossimatte,

Thanks for the feedback.

The most recent release of the Android Live Link Face app (v1.1.0) includes an experimental feature to use external USB cameras for input, but recording is currently not available.

However it is on our roadmap and we hope to add recording functionality in a future release.

Thanks!

This is HUGE news! Thanks for the update
