FABRIK Pole Vector or prefered bend direction

Hey folks,

I was wondering, im making control rigs.
And having worked with blender before i was wondering.
Is there a multi-bone set-up that allows for a pole vector?
Like the 2 bone basic IK has a pole vector that determines whereto the bones are attracted.
But when im trying out other forms of IK for longer bone chains i have trouble.
Mainly i can’t figure out how to stop it from collapsing in on itself when i want a nice arch to the bend.



Here it goes into a Z shape. and i don’t know what to do about it.

You can try FullBodyIK.

i did, but it pulls the entire body all over the place no matter what i try.

You can set the Root Behaviour to ‘Pin to Input,’ and then add the bones from the parent of your bone chain up to the root to the ‘Excluded Bone’ list. (It’s a bit tedious, but it should work.)
