Here’s my ideas for the futur FAB market.
[1] - Don’t mess with the licenses, they’re hell on Artstation, some sellers use them as bait, you never really know the price and so you waste a lot of time trying to find things that can be used in a commercial context.
I hope to see a licensing system as user-friendly as that of the Unreal Engine marketplace.
(It discourages me from buying in Artstation, even though I own 2k+ assets on the Unreal Engine marketplace, so I’m a pretty good consumer).
[2] - Again on Artstation, the prices don’t include VAT, which is illegal in the European Union (Council Directive 2006/112/EC) and is very unpleasant for us who are used to seeing the final price.
[3] - I’d like to see a price tracker to keep track of prices and discounts.
[4] - As for assets, it would be nice to have a better arrangement in the Unreal Engine, rather than having assets added to the “/Content/” folder. It would be much better to have them, for example
in a common folder, with the name FAB followed by a subfolder representing the category, so for example an animation category asset would be in /Content/FAB/Animations/AssetName/.
[5] - A pack system, a system that lets you sell several assets at once, would clarify and simplify things and open up possibilities for selling packs at better prices.
[6] - A complete overhaul of the “Vault” system is imperative. We need categories, the ability to sort them by date of purchase, price… Also search and filter options.
[7] - The ability to hide content created by the AI that is saved, so that you don’t have to enter the filter every time.
[8] - A good Unreal Engine integration, being able to do everything from the Unreal Engine, purchase > download > add to project.
[9] - Don’t inform sellers that we’re adding their products to our whishlist. This too often backfires on buyers, and prices tend to go up because of it…
[10] - Going from 200 to no whishlist limit would be great.
[11] - Adult content is not available on the Unreal Engine, but can be found on Artstation and Sketchfab
(you could perhaps add a setting in the profile to ensure that this content is only visible to adults who have agreed to see it).
[12] - A Patreon-style option that would allow you to pay a subscription fee to access a vendor’s products, allowing vendors who already do so to do so directly from the platform.
[13] - Bundles, like unity or the humble bundle, it would be cool to see bundles at interesting prices.
[14] - A private feedback feature for sellers that would allow them, for example, to let a seller know that the price of a particular product is too high (the seller is free to do what he wants with the information).
I invite you to tell us what you think should be improved in the new market to come.
This is unrelated, but if you could also put your tutorial videos on YouTube in parallel, because your video platform is very slow and impractical.
And by the way, my thanks to Epic for spoiling us with free content every month, it’s much appreciated!
To complete my topic, I’d like to quote a topic that I find rather relevant, and whose ideas I find interesting.
