Yes, ratings will start appearing after a listing receives at least 5. We’re looking to include a tooltip or otherwise make this more clear on the product page when it says “No Ratings Yet”.
Okay that makes a lot more sense. I initially thought that only the products reviewed in the Unreal Engine Marketplace kept their ratings but I’m glad to see that it’s working. Thank you!
I had 2 products with 5-star reviews written by real customers back on the UE Marketplace, but because they were less than 5 reviews they were removed on Fab and the products now show “No ratings yet”. I worked so hard to get real and natural feedback from my customers.
In the meantime, sellers who were abusing the system on the UE Marketplace by either forcing people to add Discord verification 5-star reviews or by adding fake reviews through the same group of people, these people were literally rewarded. Their products always appeared on top when filtering, and one of them had a product with basic features (but advertised as very advanced one of a kind through fake reviews) featured on the homepage of Fab during the first week.
Now, during the Black Friday sale, new sellers (who just started getting reviews and exposure on the UE Marketplace) were completely excluded because showcase sections on the front page of Fab automatically excluded products with less than 5 reviews, including the “Top Deals” section which should’ve been about the sale’s percentage not ratings.
Only established sellers who wouldn’t even notice the exposure and sellers with fake reviews had their products showcased during this sale.
One established seller had 4 of their products showcased on the front page since the sale started, 3 products were showcased at the same time, for days.
An AI seller who used to spam the UE Marketplace with 2D, Audio, Textures and Materials created using AI (but now creates blueprints) was rewarded by also having at least one of their products showcased at all times - 2 products were showcased at the same time, also for days.
No tooltip or any extra clarification at the product page can fix this. This is not about UI/UX and best practices anymore. I’m simply finding it difficult to trust that Fab’s team is focusing or prioritizing the right things, or that there is a Fab’s team to begin with. I also must say, I think the questions section was removed because of a single seller who kept accusing people of using the questions section for harassments yet in every single post they write I find them being the ones harassing others. I failed to find any other people complaining about the questions section being used for harassment, be it sellers or buyers, except for this single, loud, and extremely rude seller - not enough to remove a literal community resource in my opinion.
I understand this so much…
I know it is not a lot, but it meant so much for me as a seller, I was happy to recieve 3!!! positive written reviews of my assets right few month before FAB, got my first three 5 stars, and overall was very overjoy with this result I had and that it was really displayed under my assets so other customers could learn more about expirience other users.
But yes, because there were less than 5 ratings per asset it is not showing, and no transfered reviews, and I really think this sucks a lot.
“Oh, but there can be harassement in the reviews!” oh ok, it need just a button “report” for violation etc.
And true, the winners in the end are the ones who had that spammed 5 stars ~verifications reviews, not the other sellers who wasnt practicing this thing.
And maybe the monitoring of the reviews could solve this problem better?
Really has a wish that FAB will return rating and reviews/questions how the were in the UE store.
I agree with this sentiment, it seems largely punishing for new creators.
I feel like this was done to prevent people from just getting their friend to instantly leave a 5 star review. However, if we had actual text reviews again, this was never really an issue, because you could usually read the review and tell if it was genuine or not.
Thanks for all the feedback. We’re actively working on the next version of ratings and reviews, which will be much more robust than a simple 1-5 star rating.
