Fab plugin for Maxon Cinema 4D

Hey community:

Glad to see that Fab finally has a launcher and can export material models to C4D like Bridge.

However, there seem to be some bugs and drawbacks to exporting, such as not supporting materials like Vray and Corona, and Arnold not having support for GraphNode materials.

What I want to ask is whether Fab allows users to submit code. If possible, I would like to add the above content.

I have previously created an importer for Bridge, and of course, you can also merge my code if you want to.

Thanks for reaching out to us. Please note that the following versions of Cinema4D are supported with Fab launcher:

  • 2023
  • 2024
  • 2025

The supported renderers are:

  • Physical
  • Octane
  • Redshift
  • Arnold

I can’t get FAB to export to C4D Octane. It gives an error message on line 184 of importer.py

It has worked fine with standard and RS.

Anyone else has the same problem?

Hi,

I just downloaded the new plugin from the epic launcher for C4D export.

Bridge used to automatically export materials for the selected render engine.

But now it doesn’t work anymore for octane render.

I get this error message.

Can you help?

Hi @Freudinsky @panadacoenta, A fix has been deployed for the problem you were experiencing with Cinema 4D.

You should see an “Update available” notification appearing in the launcher after closing and reopening Fab, as well as in the "Download Manager” of the Fab tab.

Please update the plugin and share your feedback.

I still can’t install this plugin. Maybe it’s because I installed my Cinema4D in a non-default folder. Is there any way to install it without using the Fab app manually?

Does anyone have any tips to get Octane Materials exported to C4d? I get he model, but the materials aren’t Octane.

  • C:\Users\\AppData\Local\FabPlugins\cinema4d
  • C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Maxon\Maxon Cinema 4D 202xxx\plugins\Fab

Let me know which of these folders is missing from your system, if any.

Please share the following details:

  • Which version of C4D are you using?
  • Which format are you trying to export?
  • Kindly share a screenshot of the material setup and right panel in C4d viewport. Any supporting detail would be helpful.

just reviving this thread to ask when there will be a compatible version of the FAB plugin for cinema 4d 2026. Currently for that version the plugin only exports the mesh but no textures.

Could you please provide details for the following so that we can investigate it at our end. Kindly share:

  1. Whether the issue occurred with a specific asset or with all assets you exported with C4D 2026.
  2. The file formats you used in export
  3. Renderer name and version you used with C4d 2026
  4. Current operating system you are using (Windows or Mac)?
  5. How did you configure the plugin for c4d 2026? Did you manually copy the plugin folders from a previous C4D version into the 2026?
  6. It would be helpful if you can share a screenshot of the plugin folder inside C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Maxon\Maxon Cinema 4D 2026xxxx\plugins\Fab

  1. It happens with every asset I try to export into C4D 2026, mesh is there but the material is empty, no textures imported.

  2. Exporting assets as FBX with quality set to “high” in the Fab launcher

  3. Using redshift 2026.0.0

  4. Windows 11

  5. I manually copied the plugin from older c4d versions into the plugins folder of c4d 2026, since the fab launcher does not recognize c4d 2026 apparently.

I think the problem is literally, that the export plugins for c4d were made before c4d 2026 got released, thats why its not set up for it properly.

I’m having the same issue, but I don’t have anything showing in AppData\Roaming\Maxon\Maxon Cinema 4D 2026\plugins\Fab. When I clicked in the “Install Plugin”button, nothing happens.

can we get an update on this? its preventing our studio to fully switch to c4d 2026.
