Does anyone know if Fab or Epic Games will update requirements to publishing to Fab? I genuinely have a concern with the amount of (I hate to call it this) garbage assets being uploaded. I’m looking for decent assets, and almost every page is littered with 50% AI generated, or photo scanned nonsense. I’ve turned off the AI options in hopes to filter it. I’ve been reading that they are doing it for the Substance Painter subscription. Perhaps Unreal should make it to where you can only get it through the purchase option. Because it’s becoming ridiculous at how bad the marketplace is. I honestly look for my stuff outside of Fab. I was excited for Fab too, but this is getting ridiculous.
I afraid they won’t Update it (Unless Forced by Government Law to do so) especially regarding AI.
You can use Hide Products Created with AI Filter, although it does not Filter Properly.
For now Currently AI is not Capable to create 3D Models/ Environments, you can look out for those
With their Exclusive Filters like (Smart Asset Only, Environment Only, etc)
Epic Games does not take Fab Seriously, nor do they Listen Community Feedback. I know Staff members does say that they have Included on List, taken Feedback, etc. But Honestly hardly few of basic Features will be Implemented not those which Community was asking from Years.
Sad reading that, but can’t argue against the wisdom, or accurate predictor of the future. Overall, trying to understand why things are the way they are. At a guess… Epic need 1 million studios to spend at least $1000 a year on marketplace assets. Plus 5 million Indies, spending up to $1000 a year too, in order to exceed what Fortnite is bringing in each year…
Epic probably aren’t earning anywhere near that from Fab. But that still doesn’t mean you should run your only marketplace now, with a shift-crew or outsourced or whatever it is. Its interesting that no matter how many posts @Krabworks / @Vollgaser make about copyright infringement 1 / 2… That topic never makes it onto Abby’s list of ongoing ‘Known Issues’. Not even infinite-scrolling makes it on there. And we know Epic know about both, because they get mentioned constantly. Its all very strange… Zero transparency… What a way to run a business… Feel sorry for Indies who are dependent on Epic to survive right now…
Yes unfortunately they do not even acknowledge that thread exists. They have commented on all threads around it while not making a single response on IP infringement. I have even pinged them in that thread and it remains totally ignored. Maybe they are waiting for a lawsuit from Disney or Nintendo to take action.
I afraid, In Future Fab will become something like Epic Games Store (It seems like it has already headed in that way) where Buyers only come to Claim Free Stuff.
Or maybe even worse.
Without Transparency no one will Trust spending Money on Store where they can’t Trust whether the Asset they bought are even Legal to use, can’t Read Actual Reviews, can’t Identify Seller Behavior, Sellers can’t Communicate with Customers, Customers can’t follow Creators through Official way, Bad Refund Policy.
Just look at Steam, Amazon, etc. Store should be something where Customers and Sellers could trust Platform. Meanwhile Fab is going Opposite Direction.
