Fab Listing approvel paused cause of Thumbs.db

Summary

Hello Fab Support.

You maybe wanna check your approval system.

The Thumbs.db file is a Windows system created file, protected, not easy to delete.. used for caching and faster handling of thumbnails in the Explorer.

Approval of my Listing paused with “Changes needed” mentioning, I need to delete these files - which are protected system files, hidden in the explorer..

It is hidden behind TWO options to show hidden files AND the option to Hide operation system protected files (which is absolutely not recommended to turn off!).
And even after making the files visible, you cannot easily delete them - cause protected..
You have to rewrite the file content to a single byte, save and then you can delete it.. That’s the only way..

They get created on each and every system - even your own - and should not be crucial to the approval process.

What type of bug are you experiencing?

Publishing

URL where the bug was encountered

Steps to Reproduce

Trying to publish / update a plugin with content, that has Thumbs.db (hidden by system of course) in any folder.

Expected Result

Not mentioning it and being happy it exists to have faster thumbnail handling of windows

Observed Result

“Changes needed” approval paused.. Mail mentioning

Please remove these files and resubmit:
FolderPath/FolderPath/Content/Editor/Thumbs.db
...

Platform

Windows

Operating System

Windows 11

Additional Notes

Thumbs.db is not a bad file - the opposite is the case. Windows creates this file on purpose, to not have to load all thumbnails again on each folder opening.
Thumbs.db is relativ used, so it is working on all Windows System explorers, by just being in the folder (windows looks for that file first, before trying to Render all Thumbnails again and build the file).

Hey @BDC_Patrick

I appreciate you taking the time to write this bug report out. Could I also get the ticket ID for your support communication that you had so that I can follow up with the team? Thanks!

Hi @SkyeEden

No support Ticket - But the approval mail of my Plugin Update:

I know how to delete that file out of the protection of windows (so I don’t need support for this).
But it’s absolutely not recommended to
A - make these files visible
B - Delete them.. since they are performance-crucial to Windows Explorer.
